How Far is Kelingking Beach from Ubud?

In case you are ready to spend a whole day traveling to the famous Kelingking Beach in a one-day trip, you will have to set off in Ubud. Although in theory the straight-line distance is approximately 35.7 km, the real trip will include both the ground and the sea, which means that the trip would be longer in time.

The initial leg is the one between Ubud and the Sanur Harbor that is estimated to be approximately 25-30km along the roadmap. This is a lengthy drive that by rides takes up 60-90 minutes in traffic, especially in rush hours, depending on traffic. The primary jumping-off point in fast boats to Nusa Penida is Sanur.

After arriving at Sanur, you will embark on the high-speed boat to Nusa Penida, which requires 30 to 45 minutes depending on the condition of the weather. During peak season, especially in the morning and in the early afternoon, many boats go cruising and it is prudent to make reservations with the ferry in advance. Majority of the boats land at Toyapakeh or Banjar Nyuh.

It takes a 20km drive to get to Kelingking Beach, starting at the harbor.The drive will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on whether you rent a scooter or hire a driver. Notice: roads in Nusa Penida are steep, bumpy, and poorly signed, so, in case you do not feel confident on a scooter, choose a car with a local driver.

Thus, although the total distance is some 35.7 km in straight line, the complete journey one-way will take around 3 to 4 hours with car, boat, and car or scooter. It is quite a hike, but after reaching that cliff looking at the turquoise bay you will forget all the time spent on this journey.
