Nusa Penida’s Secret Spots: Have you ever had a dream to find a place which reminds Bali as it was years ago before all those people came? Oh sure I did! I had heard of the Nusa islands, which were off Bali and stayed a secret-filled wilderness place with kind people.
Although the most known island Nusa Lembongan was too built up, Nusa penida turned everything around.
This more remote island was a real paradise to off the beaten path creeps. The vast majority of visitors make quick day trips and this is fantastic news to us since this also means that most of the island remains unexplored and free of crowds! I was there, four days, and, frankly enough, I would have liked to have been there longer.
The Things I Like Best on Nusa Penida
Spirited Sights & Secret Caves: Kelingking viewpoint offers dramatic views and many people come to visit this place. The steep trail that leads down to the beautiful white sand beach is rewarding in case you are up to a good hike.
Angel billabong, Crystal bay and broken beach also look beautiful, however, it is preferable to go there early morning or late in the afternoon. Further out there, you will be blown away by other equally incredible rock formations around the island.
Hilltop Tranquillity: Do not think of the harbor busy. I got a much more pleasant atmosphere and gorgeous views being in the heart of the island. Think about smiling towns people, smiling pigs on the roadside and peaceful villages. The views of Bali Mount Agung sunset from my Airbnb were amazing, it was like magic, and the place was a great location to stay.
Peguyangan Waterfall: Not Just plain old Water. You should be prepared to use stairs; 750 to be exact! This is not a place of a huge waterfall but the amazing adventure. It provides a special feeling of going to a temple of religion as strong waves rush over the cliffs.
Nusa Penida possesses spiritual importance and is traditionally referred to as the black magic island although it is also quite crucial in maintaining a balance according to the beliefs among the Balinese. Do not forget to take water, a sarong, and sturdy shoes.
The Treehouse Rumah Pohon: This is exactly what it appears to be, a dream! I even passed a night in this treehouse and looked at the moon and sun in Atuh king five. It is rustic, has steeper stairs and the room is simple, but the sunrise view is unbeatable. Carry food, water and drink as this is one of those exclusive experiences.
Snorkeling with Manta Rays: Yet another activity that you cannot afford to miss is an outing to Manta Point in Nusa Penida in which you have a chance to swim with mighty manta rays! It is possible to make an organized tour but to have a better price ask a local boatman to privately rent the boat.
A cultural experience that is intriguing as the Goa Giri Putri Cave Temple. Wear a sarong, go up a couple of flight of stairs, and be blessed and enter this large cave. You may even experience local rituals and chanting and bat soaring around.
How to travel to Nusa Penida
Boats directly to Bali or Lombok are few. As a rule, you will transfer first to Nusa Lembongan and then either take another boat (going there it can be private boat at mangroves and there it is public ferry at yellow bridge) to Nusa Penida.
In my opinion, lots of people are having a bad experience as they do a day trip to Nusa Penida. This mystical island has the real magic and the hidden paradise of the Nusa Islands in it.
