Let’s start the travel!
Today, I would like to show you 6 beaches in key Largo that have a whole-new level of experience.
wilt thou have companions upon this journey?
Let’s go!
I never forget to suggest Florida beaches whenever I am thinking of the place.
Nevertheless, in the case of Key Largo, the beaches are less but amazing.
Majority of them are created by humans but here is the shocking revelation, some of them are naturally created as well!
Key Largo is situated in the triangle of lush mangroves stretching 33 the miles in the east-west direction.
Although most of the beaches are artificial, they are so well developed that the sceneries are simply beautiful.
I can definitely say I was impressed by the architecture and planning: safe and beautiful swimming areas with beautiful views of mangroves.
And what was better yet?
These are some beaches with public toilets, picnic tables and myriads of trees so it will provide you shade during the times you need it the most.
To be sincere, these beaches were one of the key attractions when I was wandering through Key Largo.
This is certainly one of my favorite activities in Florida.
The whole blog revolves around the Key Largo beaches.
I have already visited several of them, one time with my sailboat and one more time with a friend.
I understood that without a car, it is very difficult to cover the area in my sailboat trip.
Majority of the commuting means are planned to get you Key to Key, and Uber or Lyft was long out of the budget.
Nevertheless we did manage to visit some awesome beaches, where I did find a little peace and calm.

1. Far Beach – an Ideal Place to be Left to Relax and Meditate

When I mention the word peace, I imply meditation.
This beach is ideal to relax you.
What is the entry price of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park? Just $5!
However, when you get in you will come to know that it is one of the most secured and finest beaches in the entire Key Largo.
The issue is, what it is that you can have here, now?
It was at that point that the term adventure appeared in my mind!
There is the option of kayaking, paddle boarding and even snorkeling in the reef.
Now a word about the place–
It is located across Largo Sound which is technically a part of the Atlantic Ocean.
In nearly all directions it is encircled by mangrove terraces,
with an exception of a narrow cut leading to the open water between which is a passage only afforded to small boats.
That is why the two beaches of Pennekamp are special-
They are really good to skip rocks on and their shorelines are easy flat and perfect to just relax.
Then there is the Far Beach which is enveloped and rounded up into two sections.
You will be able to see beautiful mangroves on either sides.
The near beaches have separate swimming spots and the sand is intersected with mangrove pods and seagrass.
I waded very slowly into the water which seemed surprisingly cold, and it was refreshing.

2. Cannon Beach- where the ocean meets history

Cannon Beach is going to win your affection especially in case you love a combination of history and tropical beauty.
Another beach within the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the beach is family friendly, well-peaceful and with a historical twist to it.
Why is it Cannon Beach?
As you drive along the beach right on the edge of the water you can even see cannons. Yes, there are real 1 7 th century cannons on the sand.
They seem to have been left behind by a Spanish shipwreck and donate the place such a cool old-world flair.
The water at this place is smooth, shallow and crystal clear and hence it is suitable to little children or snorkeling beginners.
So there are many a colorful fish swimming round the rocks and even though you do not even go long you will get to see a lot under water.
What I like the most about this beach was that it was easy-going–
Whether you are just floating around the surface, snorkeling close to the cannons, or you are sitting under a palm tree, it is an ideal place to relax.
Pro Tip: There is a lot of marine life to explore, so make sure to either bring your own snorkel equipment or rent it in the park.

The water is supper shallow and clear that you can wade in
A wooden boardwalk that extends through the coastal line

It is that kind of a beach where you can walk quite into the ocean and would still find yourself in ankle deep waters.
Perfect for couples, single travelers or anyone who only needs to breath slowly at the moment.
The two small parking lots are situated at both ends of the beach that are linked by the boardwalk in a very beautiful way.

6. Bayfront Park Beach

In case you need a relaxing way out free of tourists and filled with noise, then the last destination of this beach trail is Bayfront Park Beach in Key Largo.
This is a little-known little state beach, an outermost point at mile marker 99, as you approach it on the left hand side. It is small, but pretty and quiet and a very welcome place to rest your soul after a long day of sightseeing.
This is what makes it something special:
It is a place surrounded by tall palms and mangroves
Ideal destination to go in a kayak, boat watching 🛶
Relaxed, inoffensive water that is not deep and is friendly towards children and relaxed swimmers
You will find locals here relaxing with a book or fishing rod in hand most of the time and others just watch the sun go down into the horizon.
It has benches, picnic tables as well as shade in the beach so you could spend a smooth afternoon there or even a leisurely start in the morning.
